Jinggoy Buensuceso’s Tropical Industrial House is So Dramatic!

Artist and designer Jinggoy Buensuceso and his wife, Mutya, a top-level executive and former beauty queen were brought together by an artwork. The couple now resides in a Tropical Industrial house tucked in a subdivision away from Metro Manila. “We’re done dealing with traffic and pollution. We want to be able to give our kids an alternative life where kids can simply be kids,” shares Jinggoy. The couple are parents to Mayumi and Malaya.

The Tropical Industrial house doubles as a gallery of artworks from Jinggoy and his fellow artists. Jinggoy and Mutya combined modern industrial features with natural elements, creating a sustainable environment for the family, pets and their surroundings.

The family box holds a small library and an entertainment system. This family room is where the couple hangs out with relatives who come over. The space is bathed with natural light thanks to the glass windows. A blue accent wall is added for a punch of color, while unfinished concrete gives the space a grungy presonality.

The open layout of the kitchen allows the couple to entertain guests while cooking. The chairs in the dining room are a mix of stools and chairs. The black rectangular glass table with concrete legs is surrounded by wood stumps, vintage leather-covered office chairs from the 1950s, and a black Moooi Carbon chair from Marcel Wanders. Jinggoy’s Typography art piece hangs on the dining room.

“In our bedrooms, we don’t have a television since the space should really focus around personal time for your family,” adds Jinggoy.

Outside, the Tropical Industrial house features some of Jinggoy’s sculptural furniture.

The couple break the norm by painting their tropical industrial house’s exterior in black. This is something they’ve seen in houses abroad, and have long wanted for their own.

They accessorized the outside of the black tropical industrial house with their growing collection of plants.
