FIRST LOOK: Kris Abrigo and Soleil Ignacio's Condo
Meet Millennial, power couple Kris Abrigo and Soleil Ignacio. Both in their late 20s, the two have taken the local and international art scene by storm. Kris is has murals on buildings in BGC and even in Hong Kong, while Soleil has numerous collaborations with dozens of giant fashion and lifestyle brands. The two met when they were still studying in the University of the Philippines, they have been together for eight years now. Soleil admits that getting a condo of their own was the ultimate act of adulting. The two styled their new space on their own!
When asked about how interior styling their unit differs from their creative process, Kris says that it’s not so different. “As a muralist, my style is very geometric and I usually follow a grid, this style can be seen in the space. The layout is very angular.” For Soleil, it’s the other way around. Instead of her art influencing the space, the space is finding its way in her art. “I’m starting to put more interior elements in my work now, I incorporate furniture in my illustrations and I’m into interior styling now,” she shares.
The living area is a a display of everything the couple loves. The artworks are framed by Soleil’s friends from Brio Frames, a frame supplier that uses acrylic over glass. Aside from being lighter, acrylic also blocks UV light to help preserve your art.
Kris occupies the space opposite to Soleil’s work space. The white table was initially a communal table for dining and entertaining guests but is now utilized to house Kris’ collection of paints. Soleil’s study table was customized by his younger brother who has his own furniture shop, Woja Ignacio Designs. The two tables corner off her side of the living area. She considers her studio area as her favorite area in the unit.
Deeper in the unit, past the kitchen and bathroom, the couple’s bedroom is tucked in its own pocket. The main bed frame was also made by Soleil’s brother.
